Valencia Pleasant
Jewel
Valencia is incredibly excited to make her Rivertown debut and has proudly called New Orleans home for a decade. When not performing, she is a Reading Interventionist and Enrichment teacher (PK-2nd grade) with Crescent City Schools. The native Mississippian received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Mississippi State University (Go, Bulldogs!) and Master's Degree in Vocal Performance (Classical Voice/Opera) from New York University (Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development). Ms. Pleasant has performed in the NY/NJ areas as a member of Pacific Encore Performances Repertory Company, in concert for the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of New York, and was seen in The Maid of Orleans (Senator of Orleans) in the 14th Annual New York International Fringe Festival. She has performed with The Symphony at Western Kentucky University, the Community Chorus of River Parishes, the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans, and is currently a member of both OperaCréole and the New Orleans Opera Chorus. In her extra time, Ms. Pleasant is an Independent Consultant for a global wellness company and the Co-organizer/General Manager of BlerdFest, New Orleans’ first Black Nerd festival.
