John F Keenan

John is beginning his tenure with Rivertown Theatres as the Technical Director.  John hails from upstate South Carolina where he served as the Technical Director and Resident Designer for The Greenwood Community Theatre for the last 8 years. He received his BA from Lander University and his MA from Louisiana Tech University. John has worked for theaters in Oklahoma, Texas, California and NYC. He has been involved in numerous capacities in a plethora of shows, some favorites include performing in Around the World in 80 Days, directing The Great Gatsby, Oklahoma! & A Midsummer Night’s Dream, providing lighting for Into the Woods, The Addams Family & Godspell, and designing scenery for Elf, The Addams Family & Suessical, to name a few. The production he is most proud to have been involved in was working alongside his wife, Ansley Bice Keenan, through multiple years of GCT’s Penguin Project; an all-inclusive musical production where roles are filled by young artists with disabilities. John has a passion for DIY carpentry and enjoys crafting all sorts of ‘things’- both onstage and off.
