DAVID W. HOOVER (Jim Haller) David is an Emeritus Professor in the department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans. At UNO he served as the Director of the Performance Program and was the most recent New Orleans Theatre Association Endowed Professor. Recently he reprised his role of Clarence in Ricky Grahams award winning It’s A Wonderful Life, Y’all. Some of his favorite Rivertown shows include 1776 (Ben Franklin), The Will Roger’s Follies (Clem Rogers), The Music Man (Mayor Shinn), Elf, The Musical (Santa Claus), The Drowsy Chaperone (Feltzieg), A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum (Senex) and Assassins (Sam Byck). He was seen as Dr. Chausible in Le Petit’s critically praised production of The Importance of Being Earnest. He has also acted at Summer Lyric Theatre, The NOLA Project, Southern Rep, and the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane. As a director, he has directed John Goodman, Eli Wallach, Anne Jackson, Alec Baldwin, and Stephanie Zimbalist in performances for the Tennessee William’s New Orleans Literary Festival where he served as a board member for 15 years. David received an Artist Fellowship award from the Louisiana Division of the Arts; the first award of its kind made to a director and has received UNO’s coveted Career Achievement Award for Excellence in Research presented by the Alumni Association. He has been selected for this year’s Educator of the Year award by the Crescent City Theatre Awards board. David is also a proud 610 Stomper. Thanks for coming and enjoy the show!!
