David, by day, is a professor in the department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans. At UNO he serves as the Director of the Performance Program. Some of his favorite Rivertown shows include 1776 (Ben Franklin), The Will Roger’s Follies (Clem Rogers), The Music Man (Mayor Shinn), Elf, The Musical (Santa Claus), and recently The Drowsy Chaperone (Feltzieg). He has also acted at the Summer Lyric Theatre, Le Petit, The NOLA Project, Southern Rep, and the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane. As a director, he has directed John Goodman, Eli Wallach, Anne Jackson, Alec Baldwin, and Stephanie Zimbalist in performances for the Tennessee William’s New Orleans Literary Festival where he serves as a board member. David received an Artist Fellowship award from the Louisiana Division of the Arts; the first award of its kind made to a director and has received UNO’s coveted Career Achievement Award for Excellence in Research presented by the Alumni Association.
